This page explains what AskGeeks collects, why, and the choices you have. Last updated October 17, 2026.
What do you collect?
If you write to us through a form, we get what you type in: usually your name, email address and message. It is used to answer you, nothing else.
Posting a tip or rating means we store it and may publish it. For voting we keep only a scrambled code, not your IP.
On this site that also means:
- Questions you send through Ask a geek: your name, email and question, used only to reply.
- Questions and tips you post publicly.
Each visit leaves a line in the server’s access log (IP address, browser, page), which our host keeps for security.
Anonymous counts of tool uses and link clicks help us see what is useful.
What stays on my device?
To save you retyping, some forms and calculators remember what you entered, using your browser’s local storage on your own device. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Do you use cookies?
We don’t set tracking cookies of our own, and there is nothing to sign up for to read the site.
If we turn on analytics or ads, those providers can place cookies to count visits. You can refuse or clear cookies in your browser.
Do you sell or share my data?
We do not sell or rent personal information. Hosting and email providers process data for us; nobody else gets it unless legally required.
How do I get my data deleted?
To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, email privacy@askgeeks.com.
Anything else?
Children under 13 should not send us personal information, and we don’t knowingly keep any. If anything here changes, the new version replaces this page.
